Wild Pet Food
Wild Pet Food Gentle Cold-Pressed: Beef + Insect Protein review
The softer-landing line from Wild: the insect protein and plasma the brand is known for, set on a potato base where its completes go meat-heavy. It feeds like a familiar cold-pressed pellet with an unfamiliar protein inside. All three recipes sit in our Good band, and the one weak spot on the label is a mineral line it never breaks down.
Our view
Likely to suit
- Dogs new to cold pressing. The pellet is served dry and breaks apart in water without swelling
- Owners keeping cereals off the label
- A red meat, a poultry and a fish option on an otherwise identical recipe
- Dogs of every build, toy breeds to giants
- Owners happy with a mineral top-up in the mix
Worth watching
- Potato at 20%, the biggest single entry after the meats
- Insect protein at 15% in every recipe, which rules all three out of a single-animal exclusion plan
- Minerals declared only as a 2% line
- Brewer's yeast on all three lists, if yeast is something you track

A dog with a bit of work in its day is the natural fit.
All three share one build. Insect protein at 15% and plasma at 5% sit beside the headline animal, and everything on the list is dehydrated before weighing, so the percentages compare with each other. No total is printed for the animal block.
The plant half is identical across the range: potato at 20%, sweet potato at 6%, then peas, apple and carrot, linseed, beet pulp, brewer's yeast and seaweed. Minerals come as a flat 2% line with nothing itemised. What changes is the animal and the fat that travels with it.
