Wild Pet Food Digest 80/20 Cold-Pressed: Beef review
Three cold-pressed recipes pressed from one blueprint, four fifths animal and all in our Outstanding band. Insect protein shares the animal fraction with the headline meat, still a rare sight on a British label. Carbohydrate lands a long way below what a pressed pellet usually needs.
Our view
Likely to suit
- Owners after a clear animal share, named meat, liver and plasma making up the declared 80%
- A low-starch bowl: sweet potato at 3% is the only starchy entry
- Trying insect protein without giving up a named meat
- Rotation between beef, blue whiting and chicken on an otherwise identical recipe
- Fast eaters, since the pellets crumble in water and do not swell
Worth watching
- Insect protein in all three, which rules out a strict single-animal elimination plan
- Green lipped mussel powder in every recipe, for a home keeping shellfish out
- Plasma, an animal blood protein many owners have not met

Every animal part traces back to the headline meat, plus the shared insect, plasma and egg.
Each recipe is 80% animal ingredients and 20% fruit, vegetables and botanicals, all weighed after dehydrating, so the percentages describe what went in. Insect protein at 25%, plasma at 5% and whole egg at 1% sit beside the headline meat or fish in all three.
The plant fifth is itemised down to a 1% herb blend that includes green lipped mussel powder. Protein converts to 50.5% to 51.6% of dry matter, and carbohydrate to 17.6% to 19.2% against 43.2% for the typical cold-pressed food.
