Bella + Duke: the closer look

The range

Thirty six raw products in five ranges. Adult Complete and Puppy Complete each come in Working Dog and Premium versions, seven or eight products apiece. Complete Superfoods adds six covering adult, puppy and senior. Twenty two products carry an adult label and twenty carry puppy.

Ingredients

Beef leads on seven products, then lamb, turkey, chicken and duck on five each and salmon on four. Every recipe carries a grain free flag, and seven are single protein. The Superfoods range brings fish in alongside beef, chicken and duck.

Nutrition

Raw food carries a lot of water, so the as-fed figures sit low. Protein runs about 11.9 to 16.6% and fat about 3.9 to 12.2%, with energy of roughly 80 to 157 kcal per 100g. Protein and processing and nutritional balance both read Outstanding on all thirty six.

Strengths

  • All four pillars Outstanding on every product
  • Thirty six raw recipes in five ranges
  • Puppy and adult food in equal measure

Limitations

  • Raw throughout, and nothing dry or wet
  • Six products carry a senior label
  • Most recipes use more than one protein

Where it is less of a fit

  • If the norm at home is kibble or wet, check the formats: every product here is raw
  • If you want a senior-specific line, check the labels, since six products carry a senior stage
  • If you want single-protein meals throughout, check the flags, as seven of the thirty six are single protein

Score overview

There is no split to report here. All four pillars read Outstanding on every one of the thirty six products, and all five ranges sit in the Outstanding band together. Working Dog, Premium and Superfoods differ in their proteins and in their energy, and they read the same band with us.

The average score is the mean of each product's overall score out of 100 (using the best-scoring variety per product), not a flat average across every variety.
