Paleo Ridge dog food review

Few ranges read like Paleo Ridge: raw food only, in our Outstanding band, and every one of its 36 recipes reads Outstanding on every pillar. Recipes are offal-rich and rounded out with a berry-and-greens supplement mix. The limits are the raw-only format and a short line-up of seven products.

In detail

Paleo Ridge: the closer look

The range

Seven products cover 36 recipes, all of them raw: the Classic, Paleo Plus, Essentials and special-diet lines, with puppy and senior recipes and a weaning paste. Every breed size is covered.

Ingredients

Beef, lamb and turkey lead the meats, and organ meat is prominent, with liver, kidney and heart. Recipes also carry a 'berry good' greens-and-berries mix, seasonal veg, olive oil and reishi tinctures in places.

Nutrition

Raw food carries a lot of moisture, which keeps as-fed protein around 12 to 29% and energy moderate at roughly 98 to 236 kcal per 100g.

Strengths

  • Outstanding on every pillar, on every recipe
  • Offal-rich recipes with a greens-and-berries mix
  • Complete raw for every life stage

Limitations

  • Raw only, with no dry, wet or cold-pressed
  • A short range of seven products
  • Raw feeding needs freezer space and handling

Where it is less of a fit

  • If you want dry, wet or cold-pressed, note that this range is raw throughout
  • If freezer space is tight, raw needs cold storage and daily handling
  • If you like to rotate recipes often, check the line-up, because it is short

Score overview

The average score is the mean of each product's overall score out of 100 (using the best-scoring variety per product), not a flat average across every variety.
