Rocco
Rocco Classic Trays: Beef with Lamb review
Rocco's beef recipes in a peel-back tray, and all three sit in our Excellent band. Beef and its named offal carry every tray, at 70% in the pure recipe. There is no grain, potato or pea on any list.
Our view
Likely to suit
- Beef-loving dogs, whatever the second animal turns out to be
- Owners who want the offal named: heart, liver, lung and rumen
- Dogs that do best without cereal or other starch
- A short list of animals, on the Pure Beef tray
- Anyone who would sooner peel a tray than open and store a tin
Worth watching
- Stock at 28.8% with no animal named, so even the Pure Beef is not airtight for a strict elimination diet
- The printed list covers the whole Rocco Classic family, so read the entry for the flavour you are buying
- Linseed oil at 0.2% is the only added oil, and its omega 3 is the plant kind

Named ingredients
Against the range
- Meat
- Beef 40%, lamb 30%
- Beef 50% with salmon 20%; beef alone at 70%.
- Protein, dry matter
- 44.8%
- The highest of the three.
- Fat, dry matter
- 26.4%
- 26.0% to 27.6% across the range.
The most protein of the three, and lamb rumen for a dog that loves tripe.
Beef and its offal lead all three, printed as heart, liver, meat, lung and, on the Pure Beef, rumen. Where a second animal joins it gets its own figure. Stock at 28.8%, minerals and a little linseed oil complete every list, and nothing starchy appears on any of them.
Protein converts to 43.6% to 44.8% of dry matter and fat to 26.0% to 27.6%. The carbohydrate estimate of 18.8% to 20.8% is slack in the by-difference sum, with no starch ingredient to produce it.
