Bonacibo
Bonacibo Adult Dog: High Energy review
Bonacibo Adult Dog is a four-strong chicken and rice family that quietly does more than its shelf position suggests. A dehydrated meat protein leads every recipe, chicken in three of them and lamb in the fourth. Baldo rice and maize carry the starch, anchovy brings fish protein and marine omega 3s, and glucosamine and chondroitin are dosed on every label. All four varieties reach our Good band, the Form recipe included.
Our view
Likely to suit
Whether yours is a couch companion or a dog that runs all day, this range has a version pitched at them.
- Dogs of any build and pace, since the range spans a standard recipe, a lighter Form option, a High Energy version and a lamb alternative
- Owners keeping an eye on ageing joints, with glucosamine and chondroitin dosed in print on every variety
- Dogs that enjoy fish notes, as anchovy meal and anchovy oil run through the whole range
- Households after a complete chicken and rice kibble with a fully itemised vitamin panel
Worth watching
It pays to know how these recipes are put together before you pick one.
- Every variety carries fish through its anchovy meal and oil, so none of the four suits a fish-avoiding dog
- The Lamb & Rice recipe still uses refined chicken oil, worth knowing if you are steering around chicken rather than simply towards lamb
- Maize runs through all four recipes, one to note if your dog has a known grain issue

The score, in context
All four varieties sit together in our Good band, Form among them, level with the typical adult dry food. The gaps between them are small. Pick by need rather than by badge: lighter feeding, or harder work, or a different meat.

Ingredient notes
A dehydrated meat protein heads every list, chicken in three recipes and lamb in the fourth. Dehydrated protein has already lost its water, so its percentage tells you what genuinely survives into the kibble, and the analysis follows through: protein sits between 27.2% and 30.4% of dry matter across the range.
Baldo rice is an unusually specific rice to name, a short-grain variety, and it shares the starch work with maize. Estimated carbohydrate runs from 45.2% to 49.4% of dry matter depending on the variety, around the 46.2% typical for adult dry food.
Anchovy appears twice in every recipe, as a meal and as an oil, bringing marine omega 3s and a second protein source. It earns its keep, but it does put fish in every bowl.
The supporting cast is thoughtful for this end of the shelf. Carob, brewers yeast and beet pulp work on the digestion, with a mannan oligosaccharide prebiotic beside them. Seaweed, blueberry and marigold make up the botanical tail, and a branded Phenomind blend at a fraction of a percent is aimed at cognition.
Glucosamine and chondroitin are dosed on every label, not merely name-checked, and the vitamins are itemised right down to biotin and folic acid. Selenium comes as the standard selenite and most minerals as sulphates, with a share of the zinc chelated.
How this variety differs
High Energy lifts the chicken protein to 36% and the anchovy meal to 6% for working or highly active dogs, and carries the range's most generous vitamin dosing behind it.
Price and value
The Form, High Energy and Lamb & Rice varieties were £3.73 a kilo when we checked; the original recipe is sold in 4kg and 15kg bags.
A 15kg adult dog in moderate condition needs roughly 243 to 247 grams a day across the range. That puts the checked varieties at about £0.91 to £0.92 a day, on the standard maintenance estimate of around 840 kcal daily (110 × bodyweight^0.75).
