Tribal 80% Gourmet Sausage – Fresh Duck

Tribal

Tribal 80% Gourmet Sausage: Fresh Duck review

82/100Outstanding
WetPuppyAdult

About the shortest route to a complete wet dinner, and all four sausages sit in our Outstanding band. The meat and organs share a single 80% figure, so nothing props up the headline. You slice a portion by hand, and it stays cold once opened.

Our view

Likely to suit

  • A dog on an exclusion routine. One named animal per sausage, no fish oil in the way
  • Grain-avoiding homes, with one root vegetable and chickpeas as the whole plant side
  • Working dogs and hard keepers
  • Rotation feeders moving between poultry and red meat
  • Small dogs that struggle to eat a day's calories

Worth watching

  • No split between muscle meat and offal inside the 80%
  • No calcium figure, though it is listed from puppy up. Ask Tribal before a large-breed puppy grows on it
  • Once opened it needs covering and keeping cold over several meals

A sensible next step once the usual poultry has been tried.

Each sausage is 80% one fresh animal, meat and organs counted together, then a single root vegetable at 4%, chickpeas at 4% and minerals. Parsnips go with the chicken and turkey, carrots with the duck and lamb. Linseed oil closes three of the lists; the chicken does without.

Protein converts to between 39.2% and 44.2% of dry matter. The carbohydrate estimate reads 17.5% to 20.3%, a by-difference figure that on a list this short mops up anything the analysis does not name. Energy runs from 123 to 150 kcal per 100g, dense for wet food.
