Eden Sporting & Working Dry – Fish Cuisine

Eden

Eden Sporting & Working Dry: Fish Cuisine review

75.1/100Excellent
DryAdult

A grain-free range for the dog that puts in a day's work, all three cuisines in our Excellent band. Country Cuisine is duck with lamb, rabbit and a little venison, Fish Cuisine is all fish, and Original blends chicken with salmon and herring. The feeding guide is pitched at a hard working day, not a pet's.

Our view

Likely to suit

  • Gundogs and farm dogs, and agility or sled dogs in season
  • Hard keepers. Country Cuisine runs at 20% fat and 390 kcal per 100g
  • Owners who rotate animals, as the three change only the species
  • Working dogs kept off fish, with Country Cuisine
  • Older working dogs still going out, with joint doses printed on each label

Worth watching

  • A working ration: a dog between seasons needs less than the table suggests
  • Calcium and ash run high on Country Cuisine, more than a growing large-breed puppy should have
  • Fish runs through Original and Fish Cuisine, leaving Country as the only fish-free choice

The score, in context
  1. Original Cuisine 79.3
  2. Country Cuisine 77.7
  3. Fish Cuisine 75.1

All three Excellent. Typical dry food: Good.

Very little between the three, and the order follows the protein, with Country trading some of it for the fat a long day on the hill wants.

Taurine and L-carnitine, which helps shuttle fat towards being burned, with vitamins A, D3 and E and chelated zinc, iron, manganese and copper.

Green lipped mussel on the list, so a dog on this recipe eats shellfish too.

The distance dog's recipe, with the most protein and added L-carnitine.

Each recipe opens on named animal entries and keeps going for several lines, fresh meat or fish first with dried entries close behind doing more of the work than their percentages suggest. Dried sweet potato or sweet potato, tapioca and chickpea carry what starch there is, with pea fibre and lucerne; no grain in any of the three. Estimated carbohydrate runs from 22.8% to 26.0% of dry matter.

Glucosamine, MSM and chondroitin are dosed on every label, chicory root supplies FOS, taurine is added throughout, and trace minerals come as chelates. What changes is the species: duck and lamb, all fish, or chicken with salmon and herring.
