Country Dog Premium Adult 1+: Lamb & Rice review
Flavour
Two single-animal kibbles that hold the line properly, chicken in one bag and lamb in the other, down to the fat and the gravy. Both sit in our Good band, the chicken just ahead. The meat declaration is split into its meal and fresh shares, which keeps the protein reading honest.
Our view
Likely to suit
- Dogs held to one animal, the meat, fat and gravy all from the same species
- Dogs kept away from fish: the omega 3 comes from flaxseed
- Older dogs with stiffening joints, glucosamine and chondroitin printed on both labels
- Active dogs needing a fuller fat level, 14% on the chicken and 15% on the lamb
- A grown dog and a senior fed from one bag
Worth watching
- Rice at 26% with barley behind it, so these are cereal recipes
- The joint supplements are animal sourced and neither label says which animal
- No calcium figure on either label
- Energy figures are our estimates, so the feeding table is only a starting point

The score, in context

The richer read of the two, and the one for a dog that does not get on with chicken.
Each bag holds to one animal: 39% named meat, printed as 29% meal and 10% freshly prepared, with the added fat and the gravy from the same species. Rice at 26% and barley carry the starch, and flaxseed at 2.5% supplies the omega 3 in place of fish oil.
Both print glucosamine at 0.043% and chondroitin at 0.015%. What varies is the fat source, the beet pulp share and a 5% pea protein entry in the lamb.
