Country Dog Classic Adult 1+ – Chicken & Rice

Country Dog

Country Dog Classic Adult 1+: Chicken & Rice review

56.7/100Good
DryAdultSenior

A traditional cereal biscuit in beef and chicken, done tidily. The 31% meat share is printed in two parts, meal and fresh, and even the trace prebiotic and yucca carry their percentages. Maize, barley and rice do most of the carrying. Both flavours sit in our Good band, level with the typical adult dry food.

Our view

Likely to suit

  • Dogs raised on biscuit and doing well on it
  • Owners who want the meat share spelled out: 25% meal, 6% fresh
  • An adult and a senior on one bag
  • Coats that could use a hand, with flaxseed at 2.5%
  • Multi-dog homes, with a 15kg bag as well as the 2kg

Worth watching

  • Carbohydrate at an estimated 52.7% of dry matter, so watch portions on a dog that gains easily
  • Chicken fat and gravy in both recipes, beef included
  • Zinc as an oxide, taken up a little less readily than a chelate, which matters most for a dog with skin trouble

All two Good. Typical dry food: Good.

Squarely mid-shelf: an honest two-part meat declaration, held back by how much of the bag goes to cereal.

The Beef adds chicken fat and gravy

The tidier pick for a dog kept to one bird.

Both bags declare 31% of a named meat, split as 25% meal and 6% freshly prepared. Maize, barley and rice make up the plant side, with rice at 16.5% in each. Chicken fat is the added fat in both and flaxseed at 2.5% supplies plant omega 3. The analyses are identical, and neither label declares moisture, so the dry matter figures assume 8%.
