All four recipes follow one blueprint. The chunk is typically 46% of the pouch and the sauce takes the remainder. Within that chunk, meat and animal derivatives account for 84% or 89%, with a single named animal at 4% inside it.

That category term is doing most of the work on this label. Under European rules it can cover any part of any warm-blooded land animal, which spans the excellent and the very plain. The recipe can be reformulated between batches without a word of the printed list changing. Much of the mainstream wet shelf is written this way. It tells you how much the maker is prepared to show.

What is named is pleasant enough. Turkey and chicken are easy proteins for most dogs to digest, beef and lamb are richer and more tempting again, and each appears at 4% of its pouch. Dried carrots at 0.6% rehydrate to 4% of the finished recipe, as does a mix of dried carrot and pea at 0.8%. Tomato powder at 0.2% goes into the turkey sauce.

The nutritional additives are printed with doses, covering vitamin D3, vitamin E, copper, iodine, iron, manganese and zinc, and no thickener is declared on this range at all. Energy lands at 91 kcal per 100g, a little under the 97 kcal typical of adult wet food, so portions run slightly larger than average.
