All five cans finish in our Excellent band, and the gaps between them are small enough that the choice really comes down to which animal suits your dog. The category is a strong one for us, and the typical adult wet food reaches that band as well, so these cans read as a dependable mainstream choice.

Nutritional balance and transparency read Outstanding on every can, protein and processing reads Excellent on the beef, the turkey and the wild boar and Good on the other two, and value reads Excellent throughout. A named meat at 70% carries the ingredient side, the analysis stays meat led once moisture is stripped out, and the label prints enough percentages to be read properly. What keeps the range from climbing higher is the plainness of the supporting cast, with pea flour and a purified fibre doing work that whole ingredients could do instead.

Every can opens the same way, with the named animal at 70% and nothing else above 4%. Once the moisture comes out, protein lands between 40.9% and 43.2% of dry matter across the five, and fat between 27.3% and 36.4%, so these are properly meat led recipes with real richness behind them.

The 4% companion ingredient is the main point of difference. Beef takes carrots, turkey takes apples, wild boar takes cranberries, and the duck and lamb cans take rice instead. None of them is there in a quantity that changes the nutrition much, though the rice is the entry to notice if grain is off your list.

Pea flour and lignocellulose are the two workhorses. Milled from roasted peas, pea flour brings plant protein, iron and fibre, useful in small amounts but never a substitute for meat. Lignocellulose is purified plant fibre in powder form, which bulks the recipe and steadies digestion while contributing almost nothing in the way of nutrition.

Salmon oil at 1% is a genuine dose of marine omega-3, and it is also the reason no can in this range can be called fish free. Calcium carbonate finishes the list and brings calcium to 1.36% of dry matter, which is comfortable for adult maintenance. The added panel is identical across the five and every entry carries a printed dose, with vitamin B1 and biotin joining the usual vitamins and trace minerals.

Turkey at 70% with apples at 4%, the mildest of the five and a sensible landing place for a dog that finds red meat heavy going. The analysis is not shy despite that, with fat converting to 31.8% of dry matter and energy at 112 kcal per 100g.

As a guide, a 15kg adult dog in moderate condition would eat between 715 and 785 grams a day depending on the can, which comes to somewhere between £5.28 and £5.79. That range works from about 840 kcal a day (110 × bodyweight^0.75, the standard maintenance estimate).
