Bulmer Complete Raw 80/10/10 – Chicken & Tripe

Bulmer Pet Foods

Bulmer Pet Foods Bulmer Complete Raw 80/10/10: Chicken & Tripe review

RawAdult

The 80/10/10 idea in its plainest form: eight frozen chubs, each built to one ratio of meat to bone to offal, and nothing else in the bowl. The labels stop there. Which organs make up the offal, and whether anything covers the micronutrients, is left unsaid, and three chubs publish no ingredients line at all.

Our view

Likely to suit

  • Raw feeders who want the classic ratio on every chub
  • Dogs that need starch kept out of the bowl
  • Rotation: beef, chicken, duck, turkey, rabbit, tripe and salmon across the eight
  • Dogs that have reacted to the common meats, with a rabbit chub kept to one animal
  • Fussy eaters, as tripe in three chubs brings a smell dogs adore

Worth watching

  • Raw handling: thaw in the fridge and wash whatever the meat touches
  • No published ingredients on the Chicken & Tripe, the Duck and the Turkey
  • Offal declared as a share, never by organ
  • Salmon in the Chicken & Salmon, the one chub with fish

The details

Dog fit

Listed for adults, and most chubs for seniors too. If this will be your dog's whole diet, ask Bulmer which organs go in, as the offal carries real responsibility here.

The score, in context

We have not put a figure against this range. The reason sits on the labels, not in the food. A complete raw recipe is assessed on what it declares, and the declaration here is a single line: the ratio, the animals, nothing further. There is no breakdown of cuts, no naming of the organs, no vitamin or mineral panel and no calcium reading, and three of the eight chubs arrive with no ingredients line whatsoever. The calorie figures are our estimates as well, since the maker publishes none.

None of that makes this a lesser bowl of food. The ratio Bulmer works to is exactly the one experienced raw feeders ask for, and the analyses read the way meat, bone and offal should read. The whole set is free of the fillers that a scoring system usually has to argue with. There is simply not enough on the page for us to place it fairly against a raw field where most makers itemise every gram. So we have set out what is declared and left the ranking alone.

What's in it

No ingredients list is published for this chub, so we cannot show its label. Ask Bulmer what goes in.

    Five chubs publish theirs.
    Analysis
141 kcal, 59.7% protein in dry matter
Identical to the Chicken & Salmon and the Duck & Tripe.

It looks like one analysis applied across several chubs, so lean on the name and ask for the rest.

Every published label reads the same way: 80% meat, 10% bone and 10% offal, adding up to a single named line. Nothing from a plant appears, and there is no premix and no added oil, so the micronutrition rests on the offal and the bone.

Protein converts to between 42.1% and 65.5% of dry matter and fat to between 33.7% and 38.3%. Calories are our estimates and move from 134 to 184 kcal per 100g.
