In detail
Pure Pet Food: the closer look
The range
Eleven air dried products in two ranges. The main range is seven recipes for adults and puppies, built on chicken, duck, game and herring. Pure Pet Food Sensitive adds four for adults and seniors, on chicken, game, salmon and turkey, all of them flagged for sensitive stomachs.
Ingredients
Chicken, game, salmon and turkey lead, with duck and herring on one product each. Glucosamine, chondroitin, linseed, omega 3 and taurine go on both ranges, salmon oil on the main range and a prebiotic on the Sensitive recipes.
Nutrition
The main range runs 26% to 39% protein as fed with 12% to 16% fat and 361 to 389 kcal per 100g. The Sensitive recipes are leaner, at 9% to 10% fat. Protein and processing is Outstanding throughout, and nutritional balance is the pillar that moves.
Strengths
- Protein and processing Outstanding on every recipe
- Joint support flagged on all eleven
- Sensitive range reads Outstanding throughout
Limitations
- Nutritional balance reads Average on three
- Air dried only, no wet or raw
- A small range of eleven products
Where it is less of a fit
- If you want wet or raw food, check the formats here, as every product is air dried
- If nutritional balance matters most to you, check that pillar, which reads Good or Average on seven recipes
- If you want grain-free feeding, check the labels, since four of the eleven are flagged that way
Score overview
The Outstanding band read comes from three pillars at once: protein and processing on all eleven recipes, value on nine and transparency on eight. Nutritional balance is the one pulling down, Good on four recipes and Average on three. The Sensitive range reads Outstanding on all four of its products.
The average score is the mean of each product's overall score out of 100 (using the best-scoring variety per product), not a flat average across every variety.
