Chicken leads, and skimmed milk powder follows it, a dairy entry uncommon enough on a dog food label to be worth catching if milk is something your dog reacts to. Fish oil is third, minerals fourth and egg powder fifth, so the recipe draws on several animal sources rather than staying with one.

Most labels stop at animal fat. This one says chicken, and its trace elements come chelated. Taurine and L-carnitine go in as named additions, fructo-oligosaccharides as a prebiotic fibre, and the yeast is declared for its beta-glucans. No inclusion figure is printed against any of them.

Crude fibre is declared at 0.0% and moisture at 84.5%, so this is a very fluid food with essentially no bulk to it.
