Salubrious Healthy Dog Food Cold-Pressed Grain and Gluten Free Gastrointestinal review

We place this recipe in our Good band, level with the typical cold-pressed food. A reasonable turkey share and a genuinely thought through fibre package earn the position. The size of the root fraction gives some of it back: carbohydrate reaches 47.7% of dry matter against 43.2% across cold-pressed food as a whole.

Protein converts to 28.9% of dry matter, transparency reads Outstanding, protein and processing and value both read Good, and nutritional balance reads Average. Nothing here is a weakness so much as a set of ordinary numbers wrapped around one genuinely distinctive idea.

Ingredients, as declared: Turkey (36%), sweet potato (27%), potato (20%), salmon protein (5%), goose fat (5%), whole egg (5%), beet pulp, cane molasses, psyllium husks and seeds, brewer's yeast, vitamins and minerals, liver gravy, prebiotic (inulin), alfalfa, salmon oil, sunflower oil. Herbal blend (0.25% chicory root, parsley, thyme, nettle leaf, rosemary, camomile leaf, sage, yucca extract, rosehip, dandelion leaf, turmeric, aniseed). Glucosamine (0.1%), green lipped mussel (0.05%) chondroitin sulphate (0.05%)..

The format matters as much as the recipe with a food aimed at digestion. Cold pressing shapes the pellet at low temperature and never cooks it hard. The pellet then falls apart in water where a kibble would swell, and that is exactly why owners of dogs with delicate stomachs are so often steered towards this kind of food.

Turkey at 36% is a solid share for the category and a sensible animal to build a gentle recipe on, being lean and easy to digest. Behind it, salmon protein at 5% and whole egg at 5% round out the amino acids while goose fat at 5% carries the fat. Three animals and a fish appear in total. If you came to a turkey recipe in order to leave something else behind, that is worth knowing.

The fibre work is the real point of difference. Psyllium husks and seeds bring the soluble fibre that holds water through the gut, and beet pulp adds a fermentable fibre that gut bacteria feed on. Inulin is written on the label as the prebiotic, with no proprietary name to hide behind. Crude fibre reads 4.3% of dry matter, and chicory root in the herbal blend quietly adds a little more inulin on top of all that.

Carbohydrate climbs to 47.7% of dry matter, and sweet potato at 27% plus potato at 20% is the reason. In exchange there is no wheat, no barley and no gluten anywhere on the list, so a dog that has been moved off cereals stays off them here.

The tail of the label is honest about its own scale. A dozen plants share a herbal blend that adds up to 0.25%, so parsley, thyme, rosehip and turmeric are character rather than nutrition. The joint ingredients are printed properly, glucosamine at 0.1% with green lipped mussel and chondroitin sulphate at 0.05% each, and further up the list brewer's yeast is a good natural source of B vitamins.
