NutriPaw Freeze Dried Raw Food – Chicken

NutriPaw Freeze Dried Raw Food: Chicken review

84.6/100Outstanding
Freeze-driedAdult

Outstanding chicken and Excellent beef, freeze-dried, on labels six lines long with a percentage on every one. The two read almost identically and feed very differently, so the choice is about the dog more than the flavour.

Our view

Likely to suit

  • Owners who want every ingredient named and weighed
  • Exclusion diets: one animal per bag, no egg or fish oil
  • Raw ingredients kept on a cupboard shelf, with no freezer needed
  • Adult dogs from toy breeds to giants
  • Stocking up, with packs from 500g to 4kg

Worth watching

  • Beef is fat led and chicken protein led, so a switch between them is a real change of diet
  • A large mineral fraction and the least fibre in the beef
  • Dense food. Weigh the first portions and put the old scoop away

The score, in context
  1. Chicken 84.6
  2. Beef 76.5

Two recipes across Outstanding and Excellent. Typical dry food: Good.

The format sets a high bar and both meet it; the chicken takes the stronger reading, the beef the richer analysis.

  • Apple, blackberry2% each

Vitamins A, D3 and E, with zinc as a chelate of protein hydrolysates, selenium as inactivated selenised yeast and rosemary oil extract.

The zinc chelate's protein source is not named, the one line an elimination trial should account for.

Ash, dry matter

The leaner, protein-forward bag, for a dog that gains weight easily.

Both bags hold six named, weighed ingredients: 80% meat, then sweet potato at 6%, carrot at 4.5%, whole pea at 3%, apple at 2% and one berry at 2%. Freeze drying takes the water out at low temperature, so the meat stays concentrated and portions are small.

The two analyses part company sharply. The beef is fat and bone rich; the chicken is protein led with far less ash. Both carry the same per-kilo vitamin and mineral panel, with selenium from yeast and zinc as a chelate of unsourced protein hydrolysates.
