Natural Greatness

Natural Greatness Ultra Premium Puppy, Junior, & Adult Mini: Chicken review

70.7/100Excellent
DryPuppyAdult

A small-breed pair meant to carry a dog from puppyhood to old age without changing bag. Both are grain free and energy dense, the way a small growing dog needs. The chicken is the richer at 32.0% protein and 20.0% fat and reaches our Excellent band; the lamb sits a step behind in Good.

Our view

Likely to suit

  • Small-breed puppies and juniors, with both recipes written for growth and the years after
  • One kitchen feeding a puppy and an older small dog from the same bag
  • Busy little dogs: 410 kcal per 100g in the chicken, 393 in the lamb
  • Homes without cereal. Peas and potato do the binding
  • Joint support in print, glucosamine at 650 mg/kg and chondroitin at 150 mg/kg

Worth watching

  • No calcium figure on a bag sold for growth. Ask the maker before feeding a fast-growing pup
  • Chicken oil at 11% in the lamb recipe too, so neither bag is chicken free
  • Fat at 20.0% and 18.0%, rich enough that a quiet small dog needs its portion kept honest

The details

Dog fit

Listed for small breeds from puppy to senior. A quiet 10kg dog is asked 113 grams a day on the lamb label; puppies eat well above that while growing, so follow the label and the ribs.

The score, in context
  1. Chicken 70.7
  2. Lamb Recipe 68.7

Two recipes across Excellent and Good. Typical dry food: Good.

Dehydrated meat at the top and printed joint doses lift both; plant protein mid-list and the missing calcium figure hold them back.

What's in it
  • Dehydrated chicken meat25%The figure to read first; drying happens before the percentage is set.
  • Peas, potatoesThe starch, in place of grain.
  • Fresh chicken meat10%Loses much of its weight in the oven.

  • Glucosamine, chondroitin650, 150 mg/kgProperly dosed.

Taurine at 750mg and zinc at 165mg, the highest of the pair, with each trace mineral on its own line.

No calcium figure on a growth label. Low risk for a small breed, but ask the maker before relying on it.

For a growing small dog that never stops moving, this is the sensible shape.

Dehydrated meat opens both lists, with a fresh share behind it, so the label figure and the bowl are not far apart. Peas and potatoes carry the starch in place of cereal, beet pulp gives gentle fermentable fibre, linseed adds plant omega 3 and chicory and MOS feed the gut.

Glucosamine at 650 mg/kg and chondroitin at 150 mg/kg are printed on both, with taurine and each trace mineral on its own line. Chicken oil supplies the fat in both bags. Neither declares calcium. The chicken is the denser build; the lamb carries the fuller plate of fruit and vegetables.
