Forthglade Complete Senior Wholegrain: White Fish with Brown Rice review
A soft, light senior tray in lamb or white fish, with the lamb in our Excellent band and the fish a step behind in Good. Glucosamine and chondroitin are written out in figures, and nearly every ingredient has a percentage beside it. Meat at 60% is a smaller share than Forthglade's adult recipes hold.

Our view
Likely to suit
- Older dogs carrying some stiffness
- Dogs that suit a wholegrain, named plainly as brown rice
- A dog put off by rich food: the white fish declares fat at just 3.5%
- Dogs that need a bigger bowl for the same calories
- Owners who want the vitamins dosed on the label
Worth watching
- Salmon oil on both, so the lamb tray is not one animal
- White fish names no species
- Both calorie figures are our estimates, so treat them as a starting portion

The score, in context
- Lamb 74.4
- White Fish 60.1
Two recipes across Excellent and Good. Typical wet food: Excellent.
A label that puts a figure on almost everything keeps the lamb tray level with the middle of a strong category, with the fish a step behind.

The lighter tray, for an older dog that finds richer food heavy going.
Both trays share one frame: 60% lamb or white fish, brown rice at 6%, carrots and peas at 4% each, then chicory root, salmon oil, linseed oil, seaweed and a named herb blend. Glucosamine and chondroitin are each printed at 100 mg/kg, and the vitamin and trace mineral panel is dosed.
Salmon oil puts fish on both labels. Ash is high for wet food on each, at 18.2% and 16.0% of dry matter. The animal ingredient is what moves the analysis: the fish brings far less fat, so its carbohydrate estimate runs much higher.
