Butchers
Butchers Puppy Perfect Foil: Turkey review
Peel-and-serve puppy trays built on farmed meat, with every animal named and given its own share. Behind the meat there is almost nothing: no cereal, no potato, carbohydrate estimated at 7.3% of dry matter. The beef and turkey trays sit in our Excellent band and the chicken one step back in Good.
Our view
Likely to suit
- Owners who want each animal printed with its share
- Puppies fed away from grain; no cereal or potato on any list
- Wet feeding for the water, moisture declared at 82.0%
- A gut still finding its feet. Mannan-oligosaccharide at 0.2% and chicory both feed good bacteria
- Meat as most of the bowl, protein at 47.2% of dry matter
Worth watching
- No calcium figure. Ask Butchers for it before committing a large or giant pup
- Chicken and beef in all three trays, and salmon oil in every one
- At 85 kcal per 100g, portions run larger than the tray size suggests

- Meat
- Chicken 25%, turkey 20%, beef 10%
- Two meats on the other trays
- Other animals on the label
- Turkey
- Not on the beef or chicken tray
- Analysis
- Same as the range
- Identical on all three
Pick it for a pup that particularly enjoys turkey, not for one being kept off other birds.
Every tray is British and Irish farmed meat with each animal given its own percentage, and chicken and beef appear in all three; the turkey tray adds a third meat. Salmon oil at 1% and mannan-oligosaccharide at 0.2% follow, then parsley, rosehip, chicory and mint. No grain, potato or thickening starch anywhere. The analysis is the same on all three: protein 47.2% and fat 33.3% of dry matter, carbohydrate 7.3%.
