Brit Premium by Nature Adult Small review

This small-breed recipe takes a place in our Good band; for reference, that is where the typical adult dry food sits too. Transparency reads Outstanding and nutritional balance Good against an Average reading for protein and processing, which is the honest shape of a big declared meat number carried on a conventional cereal chassis.

Ingredients, as declared: chicken 50% (dehydrated 30%, deboned 20%), oats, wheat, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), corn, apples dried, salmon oil (2%), hydrolyzed chicken liver, brewer ́s yeast, collagen, crustacean shells (a source of glucosamine, 210 mg/kg), cartilage (a source of chondroitin, 150 mg/kg), herbs & fruit (cloves, citrus, rosemary, curcuma, 120 mg/kg), mannan-oligosaccharides (120 mg/kg), fructo- oligosaccharides (90 mg/kg), Mojave yucca (90 mg/kg), chamomile dried (80 mg/kg), green-lipped mussels (a source of glycosaminoglycans, 50 mg/kg), blueberries dried (50 mg/kg).

Chicken at 50% is the headline, and the split is printed: 30% arrives dehydrated and already concentrated, while the 20% deboned share cooks down as its water leaves. A kibble wants the dried portion larger than the fresh, and protein lands at 28% as fed.

Oats, wheat and corn do the binding, conventional choices that suit the majority of dogs and count against the recipe only for confirmed cereal reactors. Estimated carbohydrate converts to 40.3% of dry matter, a little under the 46.2% typical for adult dry food.

Chicken fat is the energy source, and the omega 3s come from salmon oil at 2%. Brewer's yeast brings B vitamins and dried apples a touch of fruit fibre. Hydrolysed chicken liver keeps the flavour high for fussy small mouths.

The joint and gut package is fully declared: glucosamine from crustacean shells at 210 mg/kg, chondroitin from cartilage at 150 mg/kg and green-lipped mussels at 50 mg/kg as a source of glycosaminoglycans. The prebiotics are mannan-oligosaccharides at 120 mg/kg with fructo-oligosaccharides at 90 mg/kg. Chamomile, blueberries and a small herb and fruit blend finish the list at trace level.

The bags come in 1kg, 3kg and 8kg sizes.

As a feeding guide, a 15kg adult dog in moderate condition needs around 220 grams a day on the standard maintenance estimate of about 840 kcal (110 × bodyweight^0.75). A 5kg small-breed resident needs between 86.7 and 105.9 grams a day on the same energy estimate.
