Brit Premium by Nature Adult M review

A Good band finish puts this food alongside the typical adult dry food, which our banding also holds at Good. Transparency reads Outstanding with protein and processing, nutritional balance and value at Good, and that split describes the recipe well: a genuinely large declared chicken content built onto an old-fashioned cereal base.

Ingredients, as declared: chicken dehydrated (45%), oats, wheat, chicken fat, corn, dried apple pulp, salmon oil (2%), hydrolyzed chicken liver, brewer´s yeast, collagen, glucosamine (210 mg/kg), chondroitine sulphate (150 mg/kg), mannan-oligosaccharides (120 mg/kg), fructo- oligosaccharides (90 mg/kg), Mojave yucca (90 mg/kg), dried chamomile (80 mg/kg), glycosaminoglycans(50 mg/kg), dried blueberries (50 mg/kg), dried cloves (40 mg/kg), dried citrus (40 mg/kg), dried rosemary (40 mg/kg), dried curcuma (40 mg/kg).

Dehydrated chicken at 45% is a strong opening, and the dehydrated form means the figure is honest weight rather than water. It goes into the oven already concentrated, and protein duly lands at 26% as fed. Hydrolysed chicken liver later in the list is there for flavour rather than bulk.

Oats, wheat and corn share the binding. Oats are the gentlest of the trio, while wheat and corn are the two cereals that divide opinion most. The majority of dogs handle them without incident, but they sit first on the suspect list when a cereal-sensitive dog itches. Estimated carbohydrate converts to 44.2% of dry matter, close to the 46.2% typical for adult dry food.

Salmon oil at 2% supplies the long-chain omega 3s, and it is also the single entry that keeps this from being a poultry-only recipe, a detail for strict fish avoiders. Dried apple pulp adds fibre and brewer's yeast brings B vitamins.

The functional tail is small but declared: glucosamine at 210 mg/kg, chondroitin sulphate at 150 mg/kg, mannan-oligosaccharides at 120 mg/kg and fructo-oligosaccharides at 90 mg/kg. Chamomile at 80 mg/kg, blueberries at 50 mg/kg and a pinch of spice-rack botanicals close the list.

On the standard maintenance estimate of about 840 kcal a day (110 × bodyweight^0.75), a 15kg adult dog in moderate condition gets through roughly 222 grams daily, which lands near £0.98 a day.
