Yumwoof Perfect Superfood: Low Fat Turkey review
Air dried food built on an unusual brief: 85% fresh meat on every label and no synthetic vitamin or mineral premix behind it. The organ meat on these labels backs the maker's argument up, though it asks a little more trust of an owner than most bags do. The turkey sits in our Outstanding band, the other two just behind in Excellent.
Our view
Likely to suit
- Owners who want the nutrition to come from food, with organ meat doing the work a vitamin panel normally does
- Every age in the house; each recipe is written for puppy, adult and senior
- Dogs whose fat needs keeping down. The Low Fat Turkey is the leanest of the three
- Dogs off land meat, as the fish recipe keeps to whole sardine and anchovy
- Homes short on fridge and freezer space: air dried food lives in the cupboard
Worth watching
- No dosed vitamin and mineral panel to check line by line
- Trout oil in the turkey recipe and five animals in the Meat Lovers, both worth weighing for a dog with a history of reactions
- No calcium figure on any of the three, the number a large-breed puppy owner wants

- Wild caught trout oil, organic coconut oilThe trout oil makes the label single meat but not single animal.

No synthetic vitamins or minerals are added, by design. The nutrition rests on the organ meat and cartilage.
Named ingredients
Against the range
- Meat
- Turkey alone
- Five animals in the Meat Lovers; two fish in the third.
- Fat, as fed
- 10.0%
- 14.0% and 15.0% on the others.
- Other animals on the label
- Trout oil
- The fish recipe has no land animal at all.
The leanest of the three, and the cleanest land-meat choice once the trout oil is accounted for.
All three are air dried around 85% fresh meat or fish, itemised entry by entry, with tapioca binding the piece. There is no synthetic vitamin or mineral premix on any of them: the maker leans on organ meat, cartilage and small whole fish to supply what a complete diet needs.
The finished food holds 22.0% moisture and energy runs between 415 and 436 kcal per 100g. What varies is the animal: turkey alone, five animals together, or two small fish.
