Our view

Likely to suit

  • Dogs at their best on plenty of meat
  • Owners who want doses rather than mentions, with the joint trio printed on every label
  • A taste for the unusual: Iberico pork and a four-fish recipe sit beside the duck
  • Grain-free bowls, with sweet potato the only starch
  • Rotation feeders. Four animals, one unchanging construction

Worth watching

  • Trout oil and green lip mussel in all four, so fish in every pack
  • The Chicken recipe is 50% chicken, with sardines and anchovies making up the rest of the animal
  • No calcium declared on any of them

The score, in context
  1. Duck 80.9
  2. Iberico Pork 80.9
  3. Wild Fish 80.8
  4. Chicken 80.5

All four Outstanding. Typical wet food: Excellent.

All four finish level, a band clear of a wet field that already scores well, because the range changes the animal and leaves everything else alone.

What's in it
  • Fresh Iberico pork90%A genuinely uncommon protein.
  • Sweet potato5%The only starch in the recipe.
  • Health mix: banana, artichoke, chicory, alfalfa, apples, pumpkin, blueberries3%Leans on pumpkin and blueberries.
  • Green lip musselInside the health mix, and shellfish in every recipe.
  • Rosemary, thyme, oregano, milk thistle, spirulina, olive oil, yuccaSeasoning, not medicine, with milligram figures on most.
  • Trout oil1%The marine omega 3, and why no recipe here is truly one animal.
  • Glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM1000, 850 and 650 mg/kgDoses you can act on, identical across the range.

Taurine at 1000 mg/kg and L-carnitine at 500 mg/kg, both of which matter to the heart, plus a B complex, vitamins A, D3 and E and trace elements down to selenium.

Trout oil and green lip mussel are in the recipe, so it is not free of fish or shellfish.

A sensible next stop once the everyday meats have been tried.

Every recipe is 90% fresh animal, 5% sweet potato as the only starch, a 3% health mix of fruits, herbs and botanicals, and 1% trout oil. Glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM carry the same doses on all four labels, and the added panel is identical apart from small B vitamin differences.

What changes is the animal and the botanicals in the mix. Protein converts to between 38.4% and 39.3% of dry matter and fat to between 29.8% and 31.2%, a rich, fat-forward analysis throughout.
