Walker & Drake
Walker & Drake Cold Pressed: Chicken review
Flavour
One cold-pressed recipe worked three ways, with a named dried meat leading each list and no cereal anywhere. The chicken and duck sit in our Excellent band and the ocean fish one step down in Good. Every vitamin and trace element carries a printed dose.
Our view
Likely to suit
- Fast eaters: a cold-pressed pellet softens in water and never swells
- Owners with no interest in cereal
- Mixed households, every recipe labelled for all life stages and sizes
- Older and heavier dogs, with glucosamine and chondroitin in every recipe
- Testing before committing, with a 2kg bag beside the 6kg and 10kg
Worth watching
- Poultry fat in the chicken, which names no bird
- Ocean fish is a category with no species behind it
- The joint pair carries no printed dose
- Keep the bag sealed and dry, since the pellets fall apart in water

The score, in context
- Chicken 75.7
- Duck 74.1
- Ocean Fish 60.0
Three recipes across Excellent and Good. Typical dry food: Good.
The plant-heavy middle of each label holds the range back, and the ocean fish sits a band below the other two on its unnamed fish and pea protein.
What's in it

- Sweet potato, potatoThe starch in place of wheat and barley.
- Brewer's yeast, beet pulpB vitamins and a savoury note, then fibre.
- Whole egg powderA second animal protein, only in this recipe.
- Poultry fatAny domestic bird, so duck, goose or turkey cannot be ruled out.

- Apple, carrot, tomato, seaweed, cranberrySeaweed is a genuine iodine source.
- Flavour Bioflavex, fenugreek, green tea extract, fennel seed, blueberry, yucca, marigold powder
- Glucosamine, chondroitinNo dose given: supportive, not therapeutic.

Poultry fat names no bird, so this cannot anchor a chicken-only plan.

For a dog that simply likes chicken; a bowl held to one named bird wants the duck.
Each recipe leads with a dried meat weighed after drying, so the percentage describes the finished pellet. Sweet potato and potato take the place of cereal, and a long tail of prebiotics, produce and botanicals follows, with glucosamine and chondroitin undosed.
Protein converts to 35.6% of dry matter on all three. The fat source is where they part: poultry fat in the chicken, rapeseed oil in the duck, salmon oil in the ocean fish, which also adds pea protein.
