Every entry on the ingredient list is a category: meat and animal derivatives, derivatives of vegetable origin, then cereals, oils and fats, minerals, and molluscs and crustaceans. There are no species, no named grains and no percentages beside any of them, so the label tells you what kind of material went in but never which animal or which cereal. That may not change the plan for a dog on a weight programme. For a dog also avoiding a particular protein, it leaves questions only the practice or the maker can answer.

The shellfish entry is the one that stands out. Molluscs and crustaceans are usually in a recipe for the glucosamine their shells carry, and they are also an allergen in their own right. That is worth flagging if shellfish has ever caused your dog trouble.

The analysis is the interesting part of this one. On dry matter, protein comes out at 47.1% with fat down at 11.8% and crude fibre up at the same 11.8%. The carbohydrate estimate is 23.4% and crude ash 5.9%. Moisture is declared at 83.0% and energy at only 59 kcal per 100g. High protein with low fat and heavy fibre at a very low calorie density is the classic construction of a satiety diet. A fat figure that would read as sparse on an everyday food is the intended architecture here.

Feed a 15kg dog on that energy figure and the daily bowl comes to roughly 1424 grams, which is a considerable volume of food for the weight. Volume is precisely what this design trades on, and a dog that eats fast can be given a good deal of it without taking on many calories. How much your dog actually gets is set by whoever is running the weight programme.

The added panel is short. Per kilogram it holds vitamin D3 at 290 IU, iron at 6.5mg, iodine at 0.2mg, copper at 1.8mg, manganese at 2mg and zinc at 20mg. Clinoptilolite at 1g is there as a technological additive. Royal Canin adds a footnote that those figures cover only what was put in during formulation, not what the raw materials brought with them. That is a fair caveat to read on any panel of this kind.
