My Pet Says Impact+ Hydrolysed: Skin & Coat Care — Salmon review

54.2/100Good
DryAdult

A hydrolysed range: the animal protein is broken into fragments a touchy immune system is much less likely to recognise. Five recipes split the work between teeth, digestion, skin and coat, weight with joints, and an everyday option. Four sit in our Good band and the Weight Control a step behind in Average.

Our view

Likely to suit

  • Dogs that react to intact meat proteins
  • Owners who want the animal named at every entry
  • A specific job to do, with five versions to choose from
  • Dogs kept away from chicken
  • Puppies and older dogs together, on the Healthy Living salmon

Worth watching

  • Fish in four of the five; the turkey Sensitive Stomach is the fish free one
  • Soya oil at 3% in the Skin and Coat
  • Hydrolysed food smells and tastes different, so change a fussy dog over slowly

The coat recipe, built on its oil list.

Every animal entry across the five is hydrolysed, and the shares are declared and split between fresh and dried. The dried entry always ends up bigger in the kibble than its place on the list suggests. Potato and sweet potato are the starch throughout, with no cereal, and carbohydrate stays between 41.9% and 46.8% of dry matter.

No recipe uses chicken. Each carries its own working extras with a dose printed against them, and the trace minerals are printed to the milligram on every label. What varies is the animal, the fibre and the job each recipe is built for.
