Edmondson's
Edmondson's Adult Small Breed: Lamb review
Flavour
The brand's grain-free construction in a bag written only for little dogs, with a feeding chart that stops at 10kg. Each recipe is at least half named animal, in fresh and dried shares. The chicken finishes in our Excellent band, with the lamb and the fish a step below in Good.
Our view
Likely to suit
- Toy and small-breed adults: the chart runs from 1kg to 10kg
- One named animal doing most of the work, declared at 50% to 55% and itemised
- Little dogs kept off cereal. Sweet potato, potato and peas carry the starch
- A printed prebiotic pair, 96 mg/kg and 24 mg/kg on every bag
Worth watching
- An unsourced omega 3 supplement, so the chicken and lamb cannot be promised fish free
- Pea protein behind the lamb, so some of that protein is plant
- Salmon and trout named together, not precise enough for strict elimination work

The score, in context
- Chicken 70.7
- Salmon 66.3
- Lamb 65.1
Three recipes across Excellent and Good. Typical dry food: Good.
The differences are small and the chicken has the edge on paper, so pick by the animal first.

Named ingredients
Against the range
- Plant protein
- Pea protein high on the list
- None in the others
- Calcium, dry matter
- 2.17%
- 1.74% in the others
- Carbohydrate, dry matter
- 45.7%
- 41.4% to 44.5%
For a small dog that does best on lamb, with calcium still comfortable for a grown dog.
The named animal supplies at least half of each recipe, split between freshly prepared and dried meat with a little stock. Dried meat survives the oven in quantity, so that share does most of the protein work. Sweet potato is the biggest plant entry, at 22% to 26%, with potato and peas behind it and no grain anywhere.
Linseed, an omega 3 supplement and the same prebiotic doses sit on all three, and the added minerals are sulphates with printed doses. What varies is how much meat is dried, the pea protein in the lamb and the named salmon oil in the fish.
