Canagan
Canagan Dry All Breeds: Highland Feast review
Canagan puts a lot of named meat at the top of every list and changes only the animal underneath. Four of the five labels print a dosed joint trio, and every recipe is written for puppies as well as adults. Three read Excellent and two Good, with little between them.
Our view
Likely to suit
- Pick whichever animal agrees with your dog; the food underneath stays the same
- Grain-avoiding dogs
- Rotating proteins across one construction
- A puppy and an adult fed from the same shelf
- Stiffening dogs, with glucosamine and MSM from 570 to 830 mg/kg on four labels
- A meat-forward bowl, at up to 40.2% protein in dry matter
Worth watching
- Salmon oil in every bag
- Chicken in the gravy of Country Game and the dried chicken of Highland Feast; a chicken-avoiding dog is best on the Lamb or the Salmon
- Calcium varies, and a large-breed puppy is better matched to the lower end
- No joint trio on Scottish Salmon

Suits a hard-working adult better than a quiet one.
Every recipe opens with freshly prepared meat and prints the dried meat share behind it, so you can judge both. Sweet potato heads the plant side, with peas and potato behind and no cereal anywhere. Salmon oil is in all five bags, so none is fish free.
Four labels dose glucosamine, MSM and chondroitin; Scottish Salmon carries none. The tail of alfalfa, psyllium, seaweed and botanicals barely changes. Protein runs from 31.5% to 40.2% of dry matter, and calcium from 1.52% to 1.85%.
