Bounce and Bella Finest Grain-Free Adult Large Breed: Turkey & Cranberry review

Both bags finish in our Good band, the same placing the typical adult dry food takes. The recipe earns it the unglamorous way: named animal content at half the recipe, printed percentage splits, a dosed joint trio and dosed prebiotics. The two varieties land in the same band, so the real choice is which animal suits your dog.

Ingredients, as declared: Turkey 50% (including Freshly Prepared Turkey 28%, Dried Turkey, 18%, Turkey Fat 2% & Turkey Stock 2%), Sweet Potato (24%), Peas, (7%), Potato, Beet Pulp, Pea Protein, Potato Protein, Omega 3, Supplement, Vegetable Stock, Linseed, Minerals, Cranberry (0.2%), Glucosamine (170mg/kg), Methylsulfonylmethane (170mg/kg), Chondroitin Sulphate (125 mg/kg), Fructooligosaccharides (FOS, 96 mg/kg), Mannanoligosaccharides (MOS, 24 mg/kg)

Each variety declares its animal at 50% with the split in print, and both lean on a proper dried share. The protein survives the oven and converts to 26.1% of dry matter in the finished kibble.

The plant side is sweet potato first, then peas and potato, and there is no grain. Estimated carbohydrate comes to 47.3% of dry matter against the 46.2% typical for adult dry food.

The large breed case rests on the joint trio, dosed rather than sprinkled: glucosamine at 170 mg/kg, methylsulfonylmethane at the same 170 mg/kg and chondroitin sulphate at 125 mg/kg. Calcium comes out at 1.52% of dry matter, and the prebiotics FOS and MOS are printed at 96 and 24 mg/kg.

The vague entries are few but worth naming: the omega 3 supplement gives no source, and the vitamins and minerals appear as single words without an itemised panel. The turkey variety also calls on pea protein and potato protein to help its plant side along.

Turkey at 50%, split as 28% freshly prepared, 18% dried turkey, 2% turkey fat and 2% stock, with cranberry at 0.2%. Even the added fat stays on the bird, and turkey is the only animal named on this label.

The standard maintenance estimate of about 840 kcal a day (110 × bodyweight^0.75) is the basis here, for a 15kg adult dog in moderate condition. That dog would get through around 232 grams of the fish variety or 229 grams of the turkey, £1.16 and £1.14 a day respectively. A bigger dog scales up from there by the label's table.
