Every variety is built the same way. Half the recipe or more is a named animal, with the fresh share declared apart from the meal and the stock, on a base of sweet potato with peas and potato behind it. That split is worth printing. Fresh meat loses much of its bulk to the oven, while meal arrives already dry, so a recipe using both holds its protein. Protein converts to between 27.2% and 31.5% of dry matter across the range.

Carbohydrate runs from an estimated 43.0% to 46.2% of dry matter depending on the variety, at or a little under the 46.2% typical for adult dry food, with no grain anywhere in the range.

Digestion gets consistent attention: beet pulp in every recipe, linseed for plant omega 3s, and the prebiotic pair FOS and MOS with doses printed on each label, a detail plenty of makers skip.

The omega 3 supplement is the one vague entry, named for what it does rather than where it comes from. That is no nutritional worry, but it blurs the edges for anyone trying to keep a precise list of species in the bowl.

Each variety carries a small signature flourish, mint with the lamb, orange with the duck, mulberry with the venison, at fractions of a percent. They are decoration rather than nutrition, and the meat percentages are what actually carry these recipes.

The protein leader of the range at 29% declared, converting to 31.5% of dry matter, with beef at 50% as 28% freshly prepared Angus, 19% meal and 3% beef fat. Keeping the added fat on the same animal is a tidy touch.

Per kilo, the chicken, the beef and the salmon and trout are £4.87, the lamb is £5.00, the venison £5.27 and the duck £11.49. Most varieties come in 2kg, 6kg and 15kg bags; the duck is sold in the 2kg bag only, and several of the 15kg bags are labelled as working dog.

Day rates for a 15kg adult dog in moderate condition run from £1.09 to £2.63 depending on the variety, based on the standard maintenance estimate of about 840 kcal a day (110 × bodyweight^0.75).
