Corn is first and dried poultry protein second, ahead of soya meal, so the animal entry sits high on this list. Wheat gluten, pea hulls, barley and cellulose fill out the middle, and glycerol appears towards the end, where it holds moisture and texture in a kibble made this small.

Apart from the poultry protein itself, the animal content is given by category and not by name: animal fats are declared without a species, and digest gives the pieces their coating. Poultry is a family term that takes in chicken, turkey and duck alike.

Moisture is declared at 7.5% rather than assumed, so the dry matter conversions here come straight off the label. Protein reaches 33.5% of dry matter with fat held to 6.8%, crude fibre at 10.8% and the carbohydrate estimate at 42.4%, and energy is 299 kcal per 100g. Plenty of protein carried on very little fat is the pattern these diets are drawn to.
