A Good band finish, matching the band the typical adult dry food occupies, with transparency reading Outstanding, protein and processing Average and nutritional balance Poor. The cereal-first construction and the oils that dilute the single-species story hold it level rather than lifting it; the declared beef percentages and an honest label pull the other way.

The beef comes in two dried forms, meat meal inside the protein pellets at 21% and dehydrated beef at 10%, so the declared figures carry through to the finished food more or less intact. Even so, wheat holds first place, and with barley and maize in support the estimated carbohydrate reaches 56.6% of dry matter, a long way above the 46.2% typical for an adult kibble.

The oils are where the tidy beef story frays. Chicken oil supplies the main animal fat and soya oil pads it out, so although beef is the only meat named, the recipe is not strictly single-species. A fine point for most dogs, a dealbreaker only for the allergy detectives.

TurmerAid at 0.6% is the signature flourish, a pelleted turmeric blend better known as a supplement bought separately for horses and stiff-jointed dogs. Including it in the kibble saves the sprinkle on top, though at this level it reads as a nudge in the right direction rather than a treatment.

Glucose earns a frown from most nutritionists: it is sugar, added for palatability, and a recipe does not need it. The printed vitamin row is short and the only mineral dosed is copper at 12mg, so this label leaves more unsaid than a modern panel usually would.
