Our Average band is where this recipe finishes, a step below the Good band that holds the typical adult dry food. The shortfall is structural. Cereals carry most of the weight, protein converts to 18.5% of dry matter at the modest end for a kibble, and estimated carbohydrate reaches 61.3% of dry matter against a typical 46.2%. None of that makes it a risky food. For a lean, easy-going sighthound it simply reads as a gentle, cereal-forward recipe rather than a meaty one.

Ingredients, as declared: Wholegrain Wheat, Poultry Meal (12.5% inc Chicken 11%), Wholegrain Maize, Dried Beet Pulp, Poultry Fat, Minerals, Yeast (Brewer's Yeast and Grains), Fish Oil ( 1%), Yeast (as a source of Mannan-oligisaccharides (Prebiotic MOS 0.2%)), Chicory Root Extract (as a source of Fructo-oligosaccharides (Prebiotic FOS 0.1%)), Yucca Schidigera (0.024%), Glucosamine (0.015%).

Wholegrain wheat and wholegrain maize are the first and third entries, so grain does most of the carrying here. Both are conventional kibble cereals, and wheat in particular is one to note if your dog has shown a sensitivity to it in the past.

The animal side rests on poultry meal at 12.5%, of which 11% is declared as chicken. Meal is a concentrated, dried form, so weight for weight it delivers more protein than fresh meat. Beyond the named chicken, the poultry could be any domestic bird, and recipes built this way can shift between batches.

Fish oil at 1% brings the omega 3s the cereals cannot, and the prebiotic pairing of MOS at 0.2% and FOS at 0.1% is there for the gut's friendly bacteria. Brewer's yeast adds natural B vitamins, and yucca is a traditional inclusion aimed at less pungent stools.

Glucosamine features at 0.015%, a token rather than a therapeutic dose, but it is at least declared. Part of the zinc arrives as a chelate at 25 mg/kg, with 100 mg/kg of the sulphate form beside it. A chelate is usually the easier of the two for a dog to absorb. Selenium comes as sodium selenite, the more rudimentary of the two permitted forms.

Sold in a single 12.5kg bag. As a guide, a 15kg adult dog in moderate condition needs about 239 grams a day, assuming roughly 840 kcal a day (110 × bodyweight^0.75, the standard maintenance estimate). The label's own guide asks 105 to 250 grams across dogs from 5kg to 15kg, so let your dog's waistline arbitrate between the two.
