Arden Grange Premium review

This recipe finishes in our Good band, the same band the typical adult dry food reaches. Protein and processing and nutritional balance both read Good with transparency Outstanding, the profile of a food that does the fundamentals properly, declares its meat split plainly and lets a sound analysis carry the argument.

Ingredients, as declared: Chicken (fresh chicken 20%, chicken meat meal 20%), rice (19%), potato, refined chicken oil, beet pulp, whole dried egg, chicken digest, fish meal, yeast, krill, whole linseed, minerals, prebiotic FOS, prebiotic MOS, yucca extract, glucosamine, MSM, chondroitin, cranberries, nucleotides.

Fresh chicken and chicken meat meal enter at 20% each, a pairing that plays to both forms' strengths: the fresh brings palatability, while the meal, already stripped of its water, delivers the concentrated protein. The analysis lands at 26% protein as fed, or 28.3% of dry matter.

Rice at 19% shares the starch with potato, and carbohydrate converts to an estimated 42.3% of dry matter, usefully below the 46.2% typical of adult dry food.

Fish meal, whole dried egg and krill broaden the protein and bring marine omega fats, with whole linseed adding the plant kind. The flip side of that depth is fish in the recipe, which matters only if your dog must avoid it.

Beet pulp gives the fibre, prebiotic FOS and MOS tend the gut, and yucca extract is the brand's traditional nod to less fragrant results.

Glucosamine, MSM, chondroitin, cranberries and nucleotides finish the list undosed, presence rather than prescription, and the recipe does not lean on them to justify itself.

Feeding a 15kg adult dog in moderate condition takes about 215 grams a day, assuming roughly 840 kcal a day (110 × bodyweight^0.75, the standard maintenance estimate). The label suggests 140 to 190 grams for the 10kg to 15kg bracket. Split the difference by watching the waistline.
